About RT
ANO TV-Novosti hosts RT.com as part of its media conglomerate, funded by the country's administration. It can be regarded as an autonomous nonprofit institution established in April 2005 by the state-controlled news agency RIA Novosti. Later, the Russian administration classified the organization as one of those belonging to the core set of entities of strategic significance and placed it under Prime Minister Putin's control.
In turn, the website provides written news items along with video coverage and different digital channels dedicated to world events, discussions, and documentaries. These products are available in various language versions, including English, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, and Serbian. Apart from that, the site features multimedia materials developed by network brands such as RT Documentary and Ruptly, a video news agency.
It can be seen that the roots of the service date back to the foundation of its original TV service, called Russia Today, in December 2005. As it grew to become the multilingual web operation it is today, the site began providing international audiences with information about world politics from an alternative perspective and is considered a governmental news source.
