About Venmo
Venmo is a mobile payment application and a subsidiary of PayPal Holdings, Inc. It was founded in 2009 by University of Pennsylvania alumni Andrew Kortina and Iqram Magdon-Ismail.
Users can perform various activities on venmo.com, including monitoring their wallet balances, creating accounts to receive direct deposits, exploring cryptocurrencies, and applying for physical Venmo Mastercards, including credit and debit cards for purchases made online and in retail stores. The Venmo application also facilitates peer-to-peer transactions in the United States, as well as bill splitting, reimbursements, and payments to authorized sellers.
Today, Venmo has expanded to more than 95 million active accounts in the United States and handles more than $300 billion in annual payment volume.
