About SecurityFocus
SecurityFocus was founded in 1999 by Oliver Friedrichs, Alfred Huger and Arthur Wong in San Mateo, California. In August 2002, it was bought by Symantec Corporation; later, its ownership passed to companies like Broadcom and Accenture.
This web portal featured such facilities as the Bugtraq mailing list as well as the Bugtraq ID security advisory and vulnerability database. The portal also published original computer security-related news and columns written by professionals like Kevin Poulsen. In addition, SecurityFocus offered the DeepSight Threat Management Service, designed to provide early-warning intelligence to enterprises.
It was used by information security professionals, IT specialists, system administrators and software vendors. The aim of this web resource was to share security-related information and provide users with the latest information on developments in computer security.
